The table below illustrates how much money a single person and a couple in Australia need for a comfortable lifestyle after they retire.
The provided table compares expenses that a single retiree and a tired couple need to cover for a comfortable lifestyle in Australia. It is noticeable that a couple of retirees spends significantly more money compared to one retiree. Also, while housing and leisure are the largest expenses, the opposite was true for clothing and other services.
Retired people need to pay a considerable amount of money for housing, which costs $184 for a single person and $194 for a couple. Also, the expenditures on leisure activities for one retiree and for a couple are $140 and $202, respectively. The fees for transport are relatively similar among retired people, at about $108.
Health is the third largest expense for people after they retire as it costs $177 for a couple and $122 for a person. Regarding the lowest types of expense, a retired person does not have to pay more than $50 for clothing, food or other services whereas the figures for a couple are approximately twice as much. Overall, the total amount of money spent by a retired individual is $684 while the number for a couple is much more remarkable, at $931.
