Some people think that governments should ban dangerous sports, while others think people should have freedom to do any sports or activity. Discuss both views and give your own opinion
These days, people have different views on the practice of extreme sports. While it is argued that everybody should be able to choose any sports or activities they wish, I am convinced that dangerous sports should be prohibited.
A multitude of sports enthusiasts may insist that people should have the freedom to pick the activities they love as long as they do not harm others or negatively affect the environment. It is true that there is no specific law preventing people from taking part in dangerous sports like sky diving, scuba diving or rock climbing. Any citizens could sign up for those activities without violating the state’s regulations and practices. Moreover, many sports lovers claim they benefit mentally from doing extreme sports as they overcome the fears and emotional challenges. From their point of view, the experience and excitement acquired from dangerous activities surpass the potential risks.
On the other hand, I believe that extreme sports are too risky and should be banned by the government. First and foremost, high-risk activities like rock climbing or scuba diving pose significant threats to the takers. The participants are highly susceptible to serious injuries and trauma. For example, scuba divers may experience a panic attack or breathing difficulties during their adventures, leading to a fatality or severe suffering. Secondly, the regulations concerning extreme sports are currently not sufficient to protect the rights of participants in case accidents happen. When a tragic event occurs, the procedures of identifying the people or entities accountable might be complex and induce prolonged prosecution, which could be a burden for families involved.
In conclusion, although there are arguments against a ban on dangerous sports, I strongly believe they should be forbidden due to the threats and legal issues they might entail.
