Work
Do you miss being a student?

Yes, a lot. You know, I graduated from college 10 years ago, and sometimes I get really nostalgic. I miss the student life full of fun and joy: living with friends in the dormitory, having classes every day and pulling an all-nighter before the exams. I wish I could turn back time to live those happy days again.

Do you like your job?

I love this question. I have been working for a non-profit organization for 7 years and yes, I love my job. The pay is good, the co-workers are friendly and understanding. It’s a rewarding job, and I enjoy going to work every day.

Why did you choose to do that job?

I still remember the day I read the job description and I told myself: “This is the one”. The salary/compensation is very attractive, and I got the opportunities to work with people from different countries/cultures. And most importantly, we deliver free training to underprivileged young students in Vietnam, so it’s really meaningful and of great emotional value to me.

What technology do you use at work?

At work, I utilize a variety of tools and applications which are very useful. For example, I use Trello, an application for organizing daily tasks/ priorities so I always know what to deal with first and what could be done later. And during the Covid 19 lockdown, I use Zoom, a platform which allows me to deliver online classes, it’s really convenient and completely free.

Study
Do you like your school/subject/major?

My major is Economics and I love it. Many people are under the impression that Economics and Accounting are boring and tedious, but the truth is we can learn a lot of interesting things and apply them in different daily life situations.
Why did you choose to study that school/subject/major?

I decided to follow Economics because I had been very interested in doing my own business. I believed that in order to be successful, I needed to have deep understanding of how the financial world works, how to study the potential markets. The theories in school, together with the hands-on experience from professors would be very much useful for me in the future.

Do you prefer to study in the mornings or in the afternoons?

I’m a morning person so I prefer to study in the mornings because it’s easier for me to concentrate. I’ve got a good habit of reading books and reviewing class papers before school. I feel like I could learn much faster and more effectively in the morning.

What technology do you use when your study?

I would say there’re plenty of tools and applications out there which are really useful for my study. For example, during the Covid19 lockdown, I regularly use Zoom, an application which allows me to attend classes online. It’s very convenient, easy to use and completely free. What else, well, I also install some Google Chrome extensions, for example the Google translate because it helps me read materials/documents in English faster.
