The provided graph illustrates the proportion of cinemagoers in different age brackets in a country between 1978 and 2008.
Overall, the percentage of cinema visitors who were over 50 experienced an upward trend while the opposite was true for the other age groups over the period.
In 1978, the figure for the 14-24 year olds stood at 90%, which was 10% higher than that for the 25-34 year olds. After a decade, the statistics for both age groups fell to about 78% and 60%, respectively. While the proportion of people aged 25-34 remained relatively stable at 60% until 2008, that of people aged 14-24 grew to 80%.
At the beginning of the period, adults in the 35-49 age group accounted for 60%, compared to 40% for the 50+ age group. A decrease in the figures for both age brackets was seen in 1988, with that for people aged 35-49 dropping to 40% and that for people over 50 declining to 20%. The percentages of moviegoers from these categories saw an increase to 50% over the next 20 years.
