It has become popular in some nations for parents to educate their children at home rather than place them in a traditional pre-school or kindergarten establishment. This essay will detail the reasons why the disadvantages greatly outweigh the positives of this practice.

Although the cost of pre-school education can be quite prohibitive in certain countries, the educational benefits for children are immeasurable. Kindergarten teachers spend several years at college to become qualified in the latest pedagogical methodologies and practices such as learning through play. Parents, on the other hand, can be opinionated with personal theories on how children should learn which are not based on any knowledge of contemporary educational practice. Additionally, pre-school teachers are highly trained in the pastoral care of young pupils and are the experts in recognizing emotional needs.

Pre-schools are not only valuable places for academic grounding and progress but are vital for students’ socialization. Interaction and developing relationships with peers, at a young age, are important aspects of attending school. Pupils have the opportunity to make friends and gain valuable experience in social situations that will enable them to grow emotionally. These friendships started at school often last for life. Positive relationships, additionally, are often forged between families whose children become friends at school.  Parents can meet others who share the similar concerns and joys of raising children and receive support and reassurance from new-found relationships.

In conclusion, even though pre-schools can be expensive, children are taught by qualified and experienced professionals and these educational establishments are essential for a child’s emotional and social growth.
