Describe something you did that helped you to learn another language
You should say:
What it is
What language you learned
How it helped you learn the language
And how you felt about it
One thing that really helped me learn another language was watching TV shows and movies in that language. I started by picking shows that I enjoyed and had English subtitles, which helped me understand the story while also picking up new words and phrases.
At first, I didn’t understand much, but as I kept watching, I began to recognize common words and expressions. This made me more confident in using them in real-life conversations. I also repeated phrases I heard in the shows, which helped improve my pronunciation.
In addition to watching, I started listening to music and podcasts in the language. This gave me exposure to different accents and slang, which helped me get more comfortable with casual, everyday conversations.
By combining these activities, I gradually improved my vocabulary, listening skills, and confidence in speaking the language. It wasn’t always easy, but the fun and enjoyment of learning through entertainment made the process feel natural and enjoyable.
